Welcome to the world, Lillian
There are some things I just can't get enough of when it comes to an itty-bitty newborn. Their natural inclination to remain in the fetal position. Their peeling skin (which is completely natural). Their tiny little yawns. And for the babies who are not born bald, that head of silky hair! I might be a bit partial to that last love, since my daughter arrived in this world with a full head of hair!
I had a wonderful time with Matt & Natalie and their newborn daughter, Lillian. She had the most silky raven hair, and I had the opportunity to document a single moment that seriously made my heart pitter-patter! This collection of images stays true to my story-telling abilities. Because, years from now, Lillian will be able to look back on these moments and not only see, but also feel, the love from her parents. It is a promise, an unconditional love so deep, reserved just for her. For all time! Swoon!
Enjoy that beautiful baby girl -- she is just perfect!

Sleeping peacefully upon my arrival. And just look at that head of hair!! Love!

Lillian has been listening to the hum of her mother's voice, and now she is finally able to make a mental memory of the face that goes along with the voice that she knows so well. This moment, though 💕

The knitted hat was Natalie's when she was an infant. I especially love these kinds of details!

Daddy loving on the toes!!!

One of my all-time favorite images! Natalie and I had a small conversation about infant hair, and this was a moment that happened organically. The gentle brushing of a baby's hair can be so soothing. Lillian having pulled her eyes to my lens draws the viewer in... telling a beautiful story. Such a magical moment to be able to look back on!

Nursery details!!

Sometimes, motherhood means having to go with the flow. Lillian was having a day where she preferred skin-to-skin contact. We had some ideas for some images that never came to fruition (Lillian had her own story, and it did not include being put in a dress or knitted hat). But that is the beauty of a "day-in-the-life" documentation. It will always unfold authentically, whatever that may look like.

For those of you who follow my blog... you all know my affinity to infant hands & feet!

The necklace hanging over Matt & Natalie's wedding portrait is inscribed with the word "hope," which is also Lillian's middle name.

Lillian is one lucky little girl, with a lucky little birthday 🍀

I love this image for several reasons! First, the lighting is amazing (not to mention the white bedding provided a natural light bounce, illuminating Lillian's face)! Secondly, it was Natalie's cradle when she was an infant, built by her father (Lillian's grandfather). I absolutely love special family heirlooms such as these!

Also offered in b&w for a more dramatic effect!

Stretch it out, baby girl, stretch it out! All in a day's work!
The End
