Two Girls & Two Kitties

If you follow along in my blogging, you will understand much about me and my craft.  One, I cultivate "forever" clients (you may recognize these girls, as I have been photographing them since they were babies).  Two, I'm not all about the "pretty poses."  It's not what I market myself as, nor is it a skill that I'm trying to foster as a photographer.  Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the different perspectives and gifts all photographers can provide (even the beautifully curated portraits). 

For me, my photographs represent so many things:  moments of story-telling, little reminders of a day that once was; windows for family/friends/followers to look into so that they, too, can feel present; to evoke a feeling (insert any emotion, and surely I have documented it); an experience for the person(s) behind my lens -- because I absolutely provide not just (beautiful) imagery, but also an experience; an extension of my own intuition of the human condition; natural light and shadow, because that's my jam, I am the Chaser of Light! 

This blog is full of all the feels!  It was the girls' idea to document them with their new kitties -- and what a wonderful idea it was!  I will add little captions/stories along the way.  Enjoy!

YES!!  Everyone could use a little nose-to-nose with a kitten, amirite?!  (On a side note, this brings me back to my college years, when I was shooting b&w film, and many of my projects had strong light and shadow)!

Meet Tater Tot & Sammy

Sisterhood!  Keep scrolling, the laughter and connection seem endless! 

I love this moment so much!  The tiger kitty draws you in, and then your eye naturally follows the story that surrounds.  It's an honest moment, captured on Mama's bed!  

So much yes!   The ponderer... 

This girl is 🔥 personified 

Image on the left:  I caught them in their own respective elements (hammock = happiness; getting ready to climb = happiness), and they both looked my way... for the win!

When you look at b&w photographs through the ages, one color you would know for sure (even in its absence)... the powder-blue eye!  It translates in an almost haunting way when turned into b&w.

They both did it best, in my opinion!  

I LOVE THIS!  And, yes, I just used shouty capitals!!  

Another favorite!  The girls are both holding onto a white bleeding heart!  

This moment feeds my creative soul!

Stairs + girls + kitties...  yes, please!  

It's easy to love babies!  Baby humans, baby puppies, baby piglets, and of course, baby kittens!  

I love the image on the right -- with the kitty looking, and also with Cora's one blue eye!

At no point did I tell Sylvia how to interact with the kitty.  Makes for a beautiful image when you just let kids be.

Two separate moments (with each child, individually), but I absolutely love how they mimic one another in interaction and expression!

A beautiful ending to their story!  Not looking into my lens can be just as impactful as looking straight into it.
